Events in and around Corrigin

Corrigin, a small town located in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia, may seem like a quiet and uneventful place to visit. However, there are actually plenty of fun and exciting events that happen throughout the year and in the surrounding areas. Here are just a few:

1. Corrigin Agricultural Show
The Corrigin Agricultural Show is a two-day event that takes place every year in early October. The show features a variety of activities and entertainment for people of all ages, including animal exhibits, carnival rides, live music, and food vendors. Visitors can also check out the various competitions and exhibits, such as the baking competition or the photography exhibit.

2. Kondinin Agricultural Show
If you happen to miss the Corrigin Agricultural Show, don't worry - the nearby town of Kondinin also hosts a similar event every year in September. The Kondinin Agricultural Show features similar activities and entertainment, including animal exhibits, carnival rides, and food vendors.

3. York Jazz Festival
If music is more your thing, you might want to check out the annual York Jazz Festival, which takes place in the historic town of York (about an hour's drive from Corrigin) every year in late September. The festival features a variety of jazz musicians, both local and international, playing at various locations throughout the town. Visitors can enjoy the music, explore the town, and sample local food and drinks.

4. Wave Rock Weekender
If you're looking for something a bit more alternative, the Wave Rock Weekender might be just what you're looking for. This music festival takes place at Hyden (about a 90-minute drive from Corrigin) every year in late September. The festival features a variety of indie and alternative musicians, as well as art installations, workshops, and other activities.

5. Christmas Markets
In the lead-up to Christmas, a number of towns and communities in the Wheatbelt region hold Christmas markets, where visitors can shop for handmade gifts and decorations, sample Christmas treats, and enjoy Christmas carols and other entertainment. Some of the towns that hold Christmas markets include Brookton, Beverley, and Quairading.

6. Country Races
If you're a fan of horse racing, you might want to attend one of the many country races that take place in the Wheatbelt region throughout the year. Some of the races that are relatively close to Corrigin include the Narembeen Cup (in early October), the Wagin Woolorama Cup (in early March), and the Merredin Cup (in late March).

7. Wildflower Season
If you're visiting Corrigin between August and October, you'll be in the middle of wildflower season. During this time, the Wheatbelt region comes alive with a huge variety of flowers, including orchids, wattles, and everlastings. There are a number of wildflower drives and walks that visitors can take, including the famous 'Wildflower Way' that runs from Dalwallinu to Wongan Hills.
